Urge KY Government to Stand with Ripple Against SEC Overreach
The Issue
We call on the Kentucky Government to take a firm stand with Ripple against the overreach of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The SEC's lawsuit against Ripple is viewed by many as an assault on the burgeoning cryptocurrency industry and deceleration of financial technological innovation. According to a report from the Wall Street Journal (Dec 2020), the SEC accused Ripple of conducting a $1.3 billion unregistered securities offering. However, Ripple aims to develop a new global financial infrastructure and claims that the digital asset, XRP, is not a security. The overstepping of the SEC in this matter could have a chilling effect on the advancement of blockchain technology in the United States. We need the support of the Kentucky Government to maintain a regulatory environment that encourages rather than hampers innovation. Please sign this petition to voice your opposition to SEC overreach and take a stand for technological progress.
