I am one of many students across India who have lost a year of academics due to mere 3 marks. My delay in results meant that I couldn't apply for my LLM on time, effectively robbing me of a year's progress in my studies. This experience is far from unique. Many universities specifically like CCSU fail to provide students with supplementary or special back examinations, thereby forcing students to lose enormously over small grade deficits. Delhi University offers special/supplementary exams, and has proven it's a policy that works. We believe that the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Bar Council of India (BCI) must urge all institutions to adopt such fair re-examination policies. No student should be forced to delay his or her dreams because of a narrow miss in the marks. Education is about empowering students, not stalling their dreams for want of a few marks. This petition is a call for a more forgiving education system that provides students with a second chance and doesn't define their future on the basis of one chance.
