The Issue

This year, like several others, my friends and I found ourselves diligently preparing for entrance exams to secure our futures in esteemed private universities like SRM, VIT, KIIT, and others. We were thrilled when our hard work paid off with commendable entrance exam scores, even qualifying us for potential scholarships. However, our excitement was short-lived. The harsh reality of the current admission cycle is that many of us may not step foot into these campuses... not because we lack the aptitude, but because our

Class 12 aggregate marks have fallen just below the stringent cutoffs.

The 2026 admission cycle has thrown a unique challenge at us, as CBSE students, due to an unusually strict evaluation process that has resulted in lower overall percentages. Despite demonstrating strong academic performance and achieving good entrance exam scores, we find ourselves potentially excluded from higher education opportunities. Our academic future cannot be solely dictated by this single aspect of our educational journey.

Here's where you come in. We request private universities across India to consider the pressing reality that CBSE students face. By reducing the minimum Class 12 aggregate eligibility criteria by at least 5-10%, these universities could provide a more equitable opportunity for countless deserving students who are victims of this year's anomalous evaluation problem.

The importance of education is universally acknowledged, but what's often overlooked is how systemic and rigid criteria can potentially derail aspiring students who may just narrowly miss these benchmarks. It's essential that private universities show adaptability and understanding, ensuring that the path to higher education remains accessible to all.

It is crucial for policy makers, institutional leaders, and educators to recognize that entrance exam scores should hold significant weight, perhaps more than the arbitrary percentile cutoffs that vary due to different board evaluation criteria.

We hope to inspire a change that reflects not only fairness but also progressiveness in our educational system. Sign this petition to support a decrease in the Class 12 aggregate eligibility criteria for CBSE students. Let's ensure that future aspirants can reach their dreams without unnecessary obstacles. Please sign and share this petition to make a positive difference for today's students and tomorrow's leaders.
