The Issue

I have seen firsthand the vital support pregnancy centers provide to women facing crisis pregnancies here in New Hampshire. These centers offer more than healthcare, they provide hope, compassion, and practical support when it is needed most. Through free, confidential, medical services, counseling, and guidance without judgment, they help women navigate one of life’s most difficult moments.

Yet despite their essential role, these centers currently lack the legal protections needed to operate safely and effectively.

Each year, women in our state face unexpected pregnancies, often with nowhere to turn. Pregnancy centers fill that gap, providing free, donor funded,  services such as pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, prenatal and parenting education, and material support like diapers and baby clothes. In 2024 those services and support were valued at more than $1,600,000.00. Without legal protection, the ability of pregnancy centers to serve is at risk, leaving vulnerable women without cost-free, needed care.

House Bill 1416 is critical. By signing this bill into law, Governor Kelly Ayotte will ensure pregnancy centers can continue serving women without fear of interference or closure, preserving access to the compassionate care and resources so many rely on at no cost to the taxpayers.

Across the country, courts and lawmakers are recognizing the need to protect pregnancy centers, affirming their First Amendment rights, and advancing legislation to safeguard their ability to serve. New Hampshire should be no different, ensuring strong support systems for women and families across our state, while protecting them from the possibility of government interference shown in neighboring states.

Please join me in urging Governor Ayotte to sign House Bill 1416 into law. Stand with us to protect the life-affirming work of pregnancy centers in New Hampshire.

Sign the petition today and be a voice for protection, support, and dignity for every woman.
