I am a parent, and every day I pay $18 to take my child to school. This sum is an outcome of the congestion charge because we live in Long Island City and she attends a private school in Battery Park. To drive through the city is my only choice, and these fees feel like a penalty for making the education of my daughter a priority.

But, I'm not the only one affected. Many people face similar situations. Congestion pricing, intended to relieve traffic density and encourage the use of public transportation, can become an indirect financial burden on regular citizens who sometimes have no other choice but to rely on personal vehicles. We should have the alternative to make these trips without incurring daily charges.

What we are asking for is that Governor Hocal follow the resolution to switch off the cameras that lead to these congestion charges. If implemented, this change can provide significant financial relief to families like mine and many others who face similar predicaments.
