Urge government to fund AC/heating in our Greenford and Northolt Primary schools
The Issue
As parents of school-age children, we find it unacceptable that our children can't attend school during extreme temperatures. Many parents have to take unpaid days off work due to the inadequate temperature control at Primary Schools in the Ealing borough. This issue has persisted for many years and affects so many families in our community.
This summer, the school has had no options but to close during heatwaves as the heat is unbearable and unsafe in the classrooms.
The schools are doing amazing jobs at fundraising for students to be able to have great activities and extra equipment. They can only do so much on a budget. This is where we as a community can help!
As we are a close-knit community, I am aware that many local schools within the Ealing Borough are facing this issue, such as;
Coston Primary, Edward Betham, Ravenor Primary, Oldfield Lane Primary and Stanhope Primary.
As a youth football coach, I am in contact with many parents and children and I get to hear about parents concerns.
It is time for the government to step up and address these long-standing problems by funding proper heating and cooling systems for our children's classrooms. How can we be expected to put our jobs at risk every time the UK experiences extreme weather conditions? Why should our children's education suffer?
Every year, as the winter chill sets in, classrooms become unbearably cold, making it impossible for students to concentrate on their studies. This is compounded in the summer months when the heat becomes oppressive and unbearable, significantly hindering educational attainment and well-being. The lack of proper climate control not only disrupts the educational process but also contributes to missed school days for students and unpaid leave for parents.
The health and safety of our children must be the utmost priority. Numerous studies confirm that extreme classroom temperatures can negatively affect student performance, focus, and overall health. The National Education Union has highlighted the urgent need for appropriate room temperatures in schools, emphasizing how crucial this is to creating an effective learning environment.
To solve this, we are calling on government officials to allocate necessary funds for installing and maintaining high-quality heating and cooling systems in the schools in need within the Ealing Borough. By investing in these vital infrastructures, we not only improve the conditions for students but also support teachers and staff in delivering quality education without interruptions.
We urge you to consider the long-term benefits of such an investment. Providing these facilities will foster a stable learning environment that serves as a foundation for academic success and community welfare.
Join us in advocating for the well-being of our children and the future of education by signing this petition. Let's ensure every student has a comfortable and conducive environment for learning, regardless of the season.
