Urge Foxfire Village Council to complete pool repairs/replace
Urge Foxfire Village Council to complete pool repairs/replace
The Issue
Growing up in Foxfire Village, our local pool was more than just a place to swim. It was a gathering spot, a place where lifelong friendships were built, where families spent their weekends, and children like myself created countless, cherished memories. Now, as a property owner in the community, I long for my nephews to have the same opportunity to create their own memories at this pool, just as we did.
The situation we are facing is troubling. The Foxfire Village Council paid, with tax dollars, for contractors to repair the community pool, yet over two years later, the pool remains in disrepair and unusable. This neglect not only wastes the hard-earned money of taxpayers but also deprives our community of a vital recreational resource that promotes health and well-being.
The Village Council of five members recently voted against continuing the necessary repairs for the pool. This decision was disheartening for many residents who had hoped to see the pool restored and operational. The absence of a functional pool is not just a loss of community space but a signal of misplaced priorities that overlook the residents' needs.
We urge the council to reconsider their decision. With a responsible approach, a transparent plan, and community involvement, we can find a solution to complete the required repairs. Let us mobilize the necessary resources and bring the much-needed repairs to fruition so that families today and in the future can enjoy the community pool once again.
The issue at hand is one of accountability and dedication to fulfilling the needs of our community. By signing this petition, you're standing up for our recreational space and affirming the importance of the community’s voice. Please join us in calling upon Foxfire Village Council to take action and restore our beloved pool.
I have been asked to add the names of the council members to this petition. The decision to no longer keep the pool was made by four council members, Kevin Robbins, Mary Gilroy, Janice Gregorich and Steven Gunn with one vote to keep the pool, cast by Councilman Chris Kragel.
