As a resident of Florida and a firm believer in the principles of freedom, I believe there should be no ban on home distilling of spirits for personal use. The laws preventing this were initially created long ago with the primary aim of generating tax revenue, which I believe is a constraint on our freedom.

Did you know that as of now, more than half of the states in the USA allow home distilling of some form? According to Tony Ackerman's "The Joy of Home Distilling", 27 states have lifted their restrictions on home distilling for personal use. Why should Florida stand outside this circle of progressive jurisdictions?

The benefits would extend beyond personal freedom. For instance, if we are to consider beer's home brewing analogy, it could also potentially lead to an increase in tourism and the growth of local small businesses. The American Homebrewers Association reports that home brewing contributes approximately $1 billion to the US economy each year, which could be replicated in the distilling sector.

However, it is essential to clarify that this change would be solely for personal, not commercial use, and would come with necessary safety measures and responsible consumption practices.
