STOP THE FARMINGTON HILLS DEER CULL - DEMAND CITY COUNCIL TO REASSESS

On Tuesday April 29th the Farmington Hills City Council made the decision to cull the deer population within the city limits. This decision has not only sparked outrage but has also instigated a deep concern among a majority of the residents who oppose this action. Removing these deer, who share our environment and have become a part of our community's natural charm, is not the appropriate response to dealing with what might be perceived as an overpopulation issue.

Deer are peaceful animals that contribute positively to the biodiversity of the area. Many residents and homeowners enjoy the presence of these beautiful creatures. The decision by the City Council appears to be hasty and lacks extensive research into non-lethal alternatives that could manage the deer population effectively and humanely. Other communities have successfully implemented programs like sterilization and relocation, which are compassionate alternatives to culling that maintain ecological balance while addressing overpopulation concerns.

Our city is renowned for its green spaces and commitment to wildlife preservation and environmental stewardship. It is crucial that we maintain these values and look towards progressive approaches to wildlife management. Let's urge the Farmington Hills City Council to retract their decision and engage in open dialogues with ecologists, wildlife experts, and the community to explore and adopt humane and sustainable solutions.

By signing this petition, you are sending a powerful message to the city council that the community values compassion and ecological prudence over quick fixes. Let us work together to find a path forward that reflects our shared respect for the wildlife and preserves the kindness that makes Farmington Hills unique. Sign this petition to make your voice heard and protect our deer population.
