Urge EU + FIFA representatives to relocate World Cup over escalating ICE violence
The Issue
We are a student-led group named Ice Out Vegas (@iceoutvegas on IG), a Las Vegas–based organization fighting against harmful Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) practices. Our goal is to pressure European Union and FIFA representatives to relocate U.S.-based World Cup matches to Canada or Mexico, as current U.S. federal immigration policies and enforcement actions undermine human rights and constitutional liberties.
In 2026, the increase in deployment & funding of ICE and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents, alongside the implementation of arrest quotas targeting so-called “illegal migrants,” has resulted in multiple fatal encounters involving peaceful civilians, including the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, both U.S. citizens killed during heightened DHS enforcement operations in Minneapolis. These incidents were documented on video, widely reported nationwide, and sparked widespread protests and condemnation over the use of excessive force, even against legal citizens.
Under the Trump administration, DHS policy has increasingly relied on aggressive, militarized immigration enforcement that depends heavily on racial profiling and infringes on constitutional rights, such as due process. At the same time, human rights organizations have documented severe abuses within ICE detention facilities, including places such as Alligator Alcatraz, where prisoners face inhumane conditions, lack of medical care, and human rights violations perpetrated by ICE agents, also including recent measures to restrict media access and establish no-fly zones around ICE convoys & ICE detention centers to prevent documentation further raise concerns about efforts to conceal human rights violations and possible atrocities.
These actions and the harmful rhetoric spewed by the Trump administration have created fear among immigrant and non-immigrant communities alike, and have contributed to a massive decline in tourism across the United States. Fans around the world are also bearing the consequences. DHS has implied the presence of ICE agents at World Cup matches, causing understandable alarm among fans planning to support their countries at matches in the U.S.
These fears have already resulted in declining demand for tickets, leading to a drop in ticket prices. What should be a celebration of international unity and sportsmanship is instead overshadowed by concerns that fans, specifically those from foreign nations, may be targeted based on their race, language, or perceived immigration status. This completely goes against the inclusive spirit of the World Cup and poses a real danger to fans who simply wish to support their home countries.
Sign our petition today, so we can urge officials such as —
– Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA
– Aleksander Čeferin, UEFA President & FIFA Vice‑President
– Mounir Satouri, Chair of the European Parliament Subcommittee on Human Rights
– Nela Riehl, Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Culture and Education
– David McAllister, Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs
– Bernd Neuendorf, President of the German Football Association
– Philippe Diallo, President of the French Football Federation
– Fernando Sarney, Interim President of the Brazilian Football Confederation
– Claudio Tapia, President of the Argentine Football Association
– Debbie Hewitt, Chair of The Football Association
