Costco, one of the largest multinational retail companies, has always emphasised its commitment to serving a diverse customer base. However, in the UK, their in-store cafes significantly lack vegetarian and vegan options. With population trends indicating 16% of the UK population identifying as vegetarian or vegan as of 2024 supporting such dietary choices is not just considerate; it’s good business (source: foodmanufacture.co.uk). Moreover, offering more plant-based meals is a critical step in supporting animal rights and promoting health and wellbeing. 

Cafe menus need not be drastically transformed but can include crowd favorites with plant-based twists - a vegetarian or vegan hot dog or veg-filled chili on the jacket potato. Costco's competitors in the UK are already proactive in providing diverse food choices; it's high time that Costco catches up.
