Urge Congress to Probe FEMA Handling of Hurricane Helene Recovery

Urge Congress to Probe FEMA Handling of Hurricane Helene Recovery
The Issue
I am herein writing, not as an isolated voice, but as a representative for the thousands of families in North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida adversely affected by Hurricane Helene. With over 100,000 homes destroyed or damaged, our lives have been irrevocably transformed. FEMA, the agency entrusted with our recovery, has unfortunately let us down. Of the 500 families approved for housing, only 14 homes have been delivered so far. FEMA's response: some victims wish to stay in tents.
Homeowners are being pressured into selling their houses. Local family services have threatened to remove children from homes. Unjustifiably expanded flood plains are hindering the rebuilding process. In the face of this adversity, our spirit remains unbroken, yet it is evident that our recovery has been severely hampered by FEMA's mismanagement. We are living witnesses of FEMA's malfeasance, but we refuse to be victims silently enduring the hardship.
We are calling on Congress to initiate a thorough investigation into FEMA's conduct during the Hurricane Helene rescue, recovery, and rebuilding operations. Accountability is not an option; it's a necessity for us to rebuild and recover. In the spirit of justice, transparency, and the American dream, we appeal to each and everyone to champion our cause. Please sign this petition to press Congress to act.
