The Issue

The ancestral lands of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation—and some of the most culturally and ecologically rich land in Georgia—are closer than ever to being permanently protected.

After decades of local organizing, the bipartisan Ocmulgee Mounds National Park and Preserve Act would create Georgia’s first-ever National Park and Preserve, honoring 17,000 years of continuous Indigenous presence while protecting hunting, fishing, and public access.

This isn’t a Washington-driven initiative. It’s a homegrown movement backed by Democrats and Republicans, county commissions, sportsmen, chambers of commerce, conservationists, and the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.

And the benefits are real: over 1 million new annual visitors, thousands of jobs, millions in tax revenue, and one of the largest property tax cuts in Middle Georgia’s history.

But it won’t happen unless Congress passes the bill.

Georgia has waited long enough. The land is ready. The people are united. The economic case is clear. The moral case is even stronger.

Sign this petition to show Congress that Georgia’s families, hunters, tribal allies, and communities want this park—and are ready to protect it for generations to come.
