Urge Congress to Fund Endometriosis Research

The Issue

My wife is always in pain with this disease, and there seems to be no help in any direction. Living with endometriosis is a constant battle, not only for the 1 in 10 women it affects but for their families as well. The debilitating pain, the constant medical appointments, and the impact on daily life is something no one should have to endure without hope for relief.

Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining inside the uterus grows outside of it. The symptoms are not just painful but can lead to severe complications such as infertility. Despite its prevalence, research and funding are shockingly limited compared to other conditions affecting a similar number of people. This disparity leaves millions of women to suffer in silence without effective treatments or a cure.

In the United States, there's a significant gap in research funding for endometriosis, affecting millions and costing billions in healthcare resources and lost productivity. Estimates suggest that endometriosis costs the U.S. economy about $78 billion annually in treatment and lost productivity. Yet, federal funding allocated to research this disease pales in comparison to others with similar or even fewer numbers of those affected.

Congress has the power and responsibility to address this issue by providing additional funding specifically aimed at understanding the causes of endometriosis and developing effective treatments. Increased investment in research could lead to breakthroughs that would change lives, alleviate pain, and reduce healthcare costs.

We urge you to sign this petition and call on Congress to increase funding for endometriosis research. Women suffering from this disease deserve hope and assurance that they are not being ignored. Your support could be the catalyst for change, helping to shine a light on this invisible yet all-too-real battle faced by millions. This is not just a call for funding; it's a plea for the well-being and dignity of women everywhere. Sign to make a difference and push for progress in the fight against endometriosis.
