Urge Congress to Demand AIPAC Registration as a Foreign Agent under FARA Act

The Issue

As an American who staunchly believes in the principle of America First, I am deeply worried about our nation's entanglement in foreign affairs that possibly undermine our sovereign judgment. One such concern involves the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). I hereby create this petition to call upon Congress to require AIPAC to register as a foreign agent under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

Introduced in 1938, FARA is a U.S. legislation aimed at ensuring transparency when foreign entities attempt to influence American policymaking or public opinion (U.S. Department of Justice). The Act was designed to facilitate "evaluation by the government and the American people of the statements and activities of such persons" (U.S. Department of Justice).

AIPAC, while strongly influencing U.S. policy decisions and propagating viewpoints particularly favorable to a specific foreign entity, is not currently required to register as a foreign agent (Congressional Research Service, 2019). This lack of a requirement undermines the essence of policies like FARA intended to safeguard our national interests and secure transparency in the process through which our foreign policies are shaped.

To protect our democratic process, uphold transparency, and ensure that American interests come first, I respectfully urge Congress to thoroughly examine this issue and enforce the provisions of the FARA Act in a fair, consistent, and transparent manner.

If you share my worries about the lack of transparency and believe in upholding American sovereignty, please sign this petition. Together, we can send a powerful message that America First is not just a slogan, but a principle we stand by.
