As residents of Chilliwack and Hope, BC, Canada, we are deeply moved and disturbed by the ongoing crisis in Gaza. This issue has become personal to us as we witness heart-wrenching images of parents carrying their children's body parts in bags, hospitals being bombed, and hundreds stuck under the rubble, never to be found. The humanitarian situation is dire.

According to the UN Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner, since October 7th 2023 alone, over 11,000 people have been killed and more than 27,000 injured due to bombardments and siege. An estimated 1.6 million persons have been displaced with thousands still trapped under rubble.

We believe that every life is precious and must be protected. We cannot stand by while innocent lives are lost daily due to violence that can be prevented.

Therefore we urge our Member of Parliament in Chilliwack to use their influence on a national level and call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. It is time for our leaders to take a stand against this senseless violence and work towards peace.
