Urge Carol Stream Park District to restore Evergreen Lakes Park
The Issue
We are residents of the Evergreen Lakes community, and we're heartbroken to see the deteriorating state of our beloved Evergreen Lakes Park in Carol Stream, Illinois. For years, the park has been for recreation, paddle boats, paddle boards, and fishing. The park offered a serene escape for residents and wildlife.
However, the lack of maintenance and restoration efforts has left our once-thriving park in a state of neglect. It is more like a swamp. Completely neglected by Carol Stream Park District. They have ignored our previous petition, complaints, concerns, and reports of neglect.
Evergreen Lakes Park is not just a patch of land; it's an integral part of our lives and community identity. It's where our children play, families picnic, and residents come together to enjoy the beauty of nature. Yet, over time, we've seen extreme shoreline erosion, overgrown weeds, and the beautiful lakes filled with alge.
Carol Stream Park District has the power and responsibility to maintain the integrity of our local parks. Unfortunately, Evergreen Lakes Park has been overlooked in favor of other projects, leaving our community disappointed and distressed. Its deterioration diminishes the quality of life for all of us who live on and enjoyed spending time at the park.
We propose a practical solution: the implementation of a restoration plan that prioritizes cleaning the lakes, restoring the shoreline, and maintaining the green spaces regularly. This plan should also include community and residents involvement to maintain and boost the park's aesthetics and facilities.
We have a shared responsibility to preserve and enhance our public spaces for current and future generations. By signing this petition, you will help urge the Carol Stream Park District to assign appropriate funds and resources to restore Evergreen Lakes Park to its former glory.
