We call upon the Carlisle Council to consider the construction of an advanced, high-capacity arena in place of the Sands Centre's failing theatre. Our vision is for a venue akin to Glasgow's Hydro Arena, renowned for its flexibility and capacity to host large-scale events. The current theatre at the Sands Centre has been struggling with limitations in size and adaptability, which hinders our ability to attract bigger shows and events that could boost local tourism and economy.

Carlisle is a city rich in culture and history; it deserves an entertainment venue that can match its grandeur. A new arena would not only provide residents with improved access to diverse cultural experiences but also significantly contribute towards making Carlisle a major destination for top-tier performances.

Moreover, such arenas have proven beneficial elsewhere. For instance, Glasgow's Hydro Arena has consistently ranked among the top 10 busiest indoor entertainment venues globally since its opening in 2013 (Pollstar). It has greatly contributed to Glasgow’s economy by attracting international artists and large audiences.
