Urge Burnie Council to Reopen Gateway Plans Discussion with Residents

Urge Burnie Council to Reopen Gateway Plans Discussion with Residents
The issue
As a resident of Burnie City, Tasmania, Australia, I am deeply concerned about the lack of public consultation regarding the gateway plans. Our voices are not being heard and it feels as if our opinions do not matter to those in power. This is not just my sentiment but echoes throughout our community.
The city of Burnie has always been known for its inclusive decision-making process. However, recently this seems to have changed with the council's approach towards the gateway plans. The residents were given little to no choice for the design of the gateway plans. There have been attempts to request revission of the plans but this has fallen on deaf ears.
According to a 2016 study by Australian National University (ANU), public participation in local government decisions leads to more effective policies and increased trust in authorities. We believe that reopening the discussion on the gateway plans can bring back this trust and ensure a better outcome for all parties involved.
We urge Burnie Council to respect its citizens' rights by reopening discussions about these important plans. Let us work together towards a future that benefits everyone in Burnie City.
Please sign this petition if you believe in transparent governance where every voice matters!
