I am part of a growing community who frequently visit Gettysburg, a significant historical site in central Pennsylvania, renowned as a turning point of the Civil War. Its battlefield, considered by many to be haunted, draws in hordes of tourists from all over. However, the access to this meaningful destination can pose great difficulty for tourists who do not own cars.

There is a weekday commuter bus operated by Rabbit Transit from the Harrisburg Amtrak Station to Gettysburg. But the schedule is notably restricted and does not cover weekends. This puts a damper on visits to Gettysburg, causing potential tourists to miss out on the enriching experience that the site has to offer.

As such, I firmly urge Amtrak to operate a daily shuttle bus service from Harrisburg Train Station to the Gettysburg bus depot. Not only will it greatly enhance the accessibility of this important historical site, but it will also promote local tourism and contribute to Pennsylvania’s economy.
