The Issue

Paramount Skydance, Netflix, or Comcast are poised to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery in 2025 following their split announcement. This development is alarming and could negatively impact the entertainment landscape, as it goes against what many believe would be a more beneficial path for these iconic brands.

The proposed acquisition scenario risks diminishing the rich legacy of Warner Bros. Discovery, a corporation synonymous with groundbreaking entertainment and innovation. Instead, I believe that a strategic acquisition between Warner Bros. Corporation (Warner Bros. Discovery's Streaming and Studios) and Amazon MGM Studios' assets, accompanied by the acquisition of Discovery Global (Warner Bros. Discovery's Global Linear Networks) with Comcast's NBCUniversal, would be a transformative solution.

This merger will not only preserve the invaluable assets and legacy of Warner Bros. Discovery but will also enrich Amazon's creative resources, while NBCUniversal can efficiently absorb Discovery's vast content library, continuing its commitment to delivering high-quality entertainment. This restructuring presents an opportunity for Warner Bros. Discovery to relocate the Turner Broadcasting networks intact from the company's Global Linear Networks division to it's Streaming and Studios division and even for NBCUniversal to reconsider and potentially cancel the Versant plan, which hasn’t been well-received.

  • Warner Bros. Corporation's leadership:
    • Jim Samples (President/Chief Executive Officer)
    • Jason Kilar (Chairman)
    • Ted Turner (Chairman Emeritus)
    • Mark Burnett (Chair/Chief Executive Officer, Warner Bros. Entertainment)
    • Casey Bloys (Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, HBO, HBO Max, Turner Broadcasting System, Amazon Prime Video)
    • Pamela Abdy and Michael De Luca (Co-Chairs/Chief Executive Officers, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group)
    • Channing Dungey (Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Warner Bros. Television Group)
    • Luis Silberwasser (Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, TNT Sports)
    • Mark Thompson (Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, CNN Worldwide)
    • Michael Ouweleen (President, The Cartoon Network, Inc.)
    • Sam Register (President, Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios, Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe)
  • Discovery Global's leadership:
    •

The two mergers proposed here would create a synergy that supports both the integrity and diversity of content creation and delivery. Amazon and NBCUniversal, given their global reach and expansive resources, are perfectly positioned to handle Warner Bros. Discovery’s powerful content. This strategic acquisition plan protects these celebrated networks and studios from being sidelined or mismanaged under new corporate structures that may not prioritize their historical significance or brand value.

Join us in urging Amazon and Comcast to consider this strategic acquisition model. We envision a future where Warner Bros. continues to thrive, bringing cinematic magic and compelling storytelling to audiences around the world. Sign this petition to support a more sustainable and creatively prosperous future for these legendary studios and their loyal audiences.
