The crime of human trafficking is far more common in Alabama than one might think. Critical legislation was introduced by Representative Jack Williams, House Bill 166.

The legislation would require certain businesses to post the NHTRC Hotline, including establishments that have liquor licenses, hotel and massage parlors that have been previously cited for prostitution, strip clubs, airports, train and bus stations. The required posting of the NHTRC Hotline is a crucial provision in the law that will raise awareness about human trafficking in businesses where this offense commonly occurs and direct human trafficking victims to the assistance they need to get out of their trafficking situation.

Alabama House Representatives need to hear that the required posting of the NHTRC Hotline is important to raising awareness about the offense of human trafficking and directing human trafficking victims to the assistance they need to get out of their trafficking situation. Alabama can achieve this by passing House Bill 166!

The National Human Trafficking Resource Center can be contacted on 1-888-3737-888, and more information about this bill can be found here
