John “Soap” MacTavish, a fan favorite character from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare video game franchise developed by Activision, was killed off in the third and most recent installment of the series. His death was unnecessary, uninspired, poorly written, and frankly an insult to the people who have loved this series for so many years. Soap is a fan favorite for a reason, and he is beloved by countless players for his charisma, personality, and the energy he brings to the series. Soap was the the main reason that many people have stuck with the COD franchise the past few years, and the decision to kill him off was a huge blow to the community. On top of that, his death felt last minute, rushed, and lazy, and his death has left a void that new characters can never hope to fill.
To Activision and all of the writers for the MW franchise: it’s not too late to fix this mistake and rework the story to bring Soap back. By doing so, you would not only be respecting the fan base's wishes, but also preserving an integral part of Modern Warfare’s legacy.
