Keep the Palisades condo funicular lift as a tourist site and park

Keep the Palisades condo funicular lift as a tourist site and park
The Issue
The funicular lift-train hybrid at Palisades condominium at Pasir Panjang is one of the countless hidden gems in Singapore waiting to be discovered. However, we have noticed that many have agreed to put it up for en bloc/demolition, and we transport enthusiasts and urban explorers DISAGREE.
This lift has many special features just about EVERY other lift in Singapore doesn't have, including the funicular rail feature which makes one think of Hong Kong's Peak Tram or Japan's Hakone Tozan Cable Car. The reason we want this gem to be preserved is that we want our country's heritage to be known by our future generations, even the little things that may seem insignificant to the ordinary Singaporean. This can also help us to appreciate the little everyday things in life and treasure them while they last.
We at the Singapore Transport Enthusiasts' Community care because we consider such tiny gems precious to our country and its identity, just as how we consider the Merlion and Marina Bay Sands as symbols of Singaporean pride and national identity. Thus we believe that the Palisades condo can be part of the plan for Singapore to be a City in a Garden, with the stairs and lift reminiscent of those funicular railways and hiking trails all across the world. Schools and organizations can also come to bring people (mainly youth) on nature trails so that we can appreciate greenery and heritage more.
However, we understand the constraints, like the upkeep of the place and urban development- but there is a lot of room for compromise. To keep the place up, visitors to the lift may pay a standard public transport fee (or any decent price, maximum $2) in order to facilitate upkeep, further boosting the 'tourist spot' idea.
So, we at the Singapore Transport Enthusiasts' Community call on one and all to protect our country's heritage and truly make Singapore a City in a Garden.
