Today KK, our beloved tennis pro, was fired from UMLY. We must have a complete review of the circumstances that led to his dismissal. During a private tennis lesson he was asked to close up the Y and sanitize the court. He is a tennis instructor and not a custodian. He was never trained in sanitizing the courts. The parent of the child to whom he was giving the private lesson, stepped in and said, "You finish the lesson, I will spray." Because KK handed sprayer over to the parent, KK is now fired for putting a member in an "unsafe environment". It seems like retribution for something greater. We request a full investigation. 

Many members have been bringing issues to UMLY management's attention over the past few months, despite concerns of retribution. However, the issues were not ever completely vetted. We want a complete and transparent investigation without executives being protected because of length of service. The YMCA is about CARING, RESPECT, HONESTY, RESPONSIBILITY AND INCLUSIVENESS. Were these standards upheld in the firing of KK? 

The UMLY purpose is to provide services to the community, often at prices that are lower than private clubs. By removing such a valuable resource (KK) from the UMLY community, many families will be denied this amazing resource.
