This petition is deeply personal to me. I believe in the importance of freedom and the inherent dignity of every individual. Yet, in our beloved town of Dauin, Negros Oriental, Philippines, we are witnessing a concerning trend that threatens these values.

Human rights are being compromised and this affects us all. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person (Article 3). However, these rights are not always upheld in our community.

According to Amnesty International's 2020 report on human rights in Asia-Pacific region including the Philippines showed a worrying pattern of human rights abuses including unlawful killings related to drug control measures and attacks on activists.

We cannot stand by while our fellow citizens' freedoms are being eroded. We must act now to uphold human rights for everyone in Dauin. We call upon local authorities and leaders to take immediate action against any form of human rights violation happening within our community.
