As a disabled veteran, retired law enforcement officer, and chaplain, personal experiences have molded me into a staunch black conservative with a fervent belief in the critical principles that this great nation was built upon. Having served to protect these principles, I am deeply aware of the integral need for all citizens to fully exercise their First and Second Amendment rights as enshrined in our Constitution.

At present, the integrity of our borders is under intense pressure. Seeing my fellow American veterans struggle for resources while we face an unprecedented surge of unlawful border crossings, I urge our leaders to prioritize securing our borders. With 178,622 encounters in April 2021 (as reported by U.S. Customs and Border Protection), this issue cannot be ignored any longer.

The widespread impact of inflation, often overshadowed by other concerns, is an insidious force affecting every American. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the inflation rate surged to 4.2% in April 2021 from 2.6% in March. It is time for the government to take strategic steps towards curtailing this escalating problem.

My career in law enforcement also sheds light on the invaluable services these brave individuals provide to our community. While veterans and law enforcement officers should be honored and supported, many are struggling in the current political climate. This situation must be rectified by providing necessary support and services to these selfless individuals.

Taxation is another area where reform is critical. The Tax Policy Center notes that, on average, Americans paid more than $10,500 in personal taxes in 2019. I firmly believe that reducing this burden for American citizens is crucial for the financial viability of many families and businesses.

In conclusion, my experiences have led me to call for the upholding of our Constitutional rights, the proper management of our borders, measures to halt inflation, support for veterans and law enforcement, and implementing tax reductions.
