My daughter was the victim of a horrifying crime. From the tender age of 3 until she was 12, she was groomed, manipulated, and forced into sexual acts by her own father, Bryan Burns. This monstrous act lasted for nearly a decade.

Bryan Burns is currently serving his sentence in prison for these heinous crimes. However, there are concerns that he may be released prematurely as he is coming up for parole in 2024. We cannot allow this to happen.

In Texas alone, it is estimated that one in four girls will be sexually abused before they turn 18 (Texas Department of Family and Protective Services). The trauma caused by such abuse can last a lifetime and often leads to serious mental health issues including depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (American Psychological Association).

We must ensure justice is served not just for my daughter but also for all victims who have suffered at the hands of such predators. By keeping Bryan Burns behind bars where he belongs we send a clear message - child sexual abuse will not be tolerated.
