Upgrade death trap West St Toowoomba for Safety Measures two Reduce Traffic crashes.
The issue
we reside on West Street in Toowoomba, a busy growing thoroughfare that links the community to our city and suburbs. Over recent months, it has distressingly become a known 'death trap with more crashes like cyclest. motorcycles and vehicles happening more often bringing an alarming increase between the intersections of Stenner St and stephen st From April to July alone with west st named not safe any longer for vehicles and pedestrains from been poorly designed. Simply put West Street first. its in desperate need of updated safety measures. The situation is dire, and it is essential for us to initiate action now to prevent further. My proposal revolves around a comprehensive upgrade for extended painted bike lanes between south st. stephen st and meters from james st where it doesnt do impacts from the trucks that use james st near west st intersection. improved upgraded footpaths n new footpaths. improved and upgraded traffic signals like providing more controled right and left turns at all existing signalised intersections. upgrading the light posts at all existing signalised intersections including the existing overhead posts at stephen and south streets. updating the timing. replacing the old holagram lights with leds and improving the visibilty on the existing signal bulbs to new bulbs for clear vision at night. right and left turn lanes at all approaches of intersections between stenner st and stephen st. install ellow no stop lines in some locations along the main thoughfare removing large trees between stephen and south st section; closing a section of Drayton Road closest to the West St intersection to improve road conflicts witch this intersection is controled by traffic signals but its still between are y shaped intersection that is a blackspot intersection from how it was originally designed witch would look at options to relocate traffic on west st from drayton road onto south st and looking at any impacts to homes or changing merging added lanes at the drayton n west st intersection. installing raised crossings at side streets. reducing the speed in some locations from 60km to 50km between stephen st and stenner st where theres the most traffic n cycle n bike riders and upgrading Charnley St. Westridge intersection at west street to traffic lights with the current giveway controled intersection only busy from all the customers that come out of the crossway on charnley st from in n out of westridge shopping center with any calming messures if needed for the project. Through our collective actions, we can bring about safer roads, increased driver awareness, and decreased rates of traffic fatalities. The essence lies in a proactive strategy, and our community deserves just that. The situation affects not only the local residents along West St but also our whole community of Toowoomba. We now seek the support of the Toowoomba Region Council. Collaborative thinking and thorough on-road execution can and will reduce accidents along this stretch. this future road upgrade would be though the residents decisions and the toowoomba region council or tmr qld if choosen as well. Together, we can work towards making West St safer for its daily, sizeable traffic flow, pedestrial inclusion, and the overall regional community. Let us transform this so-called 'death trap and stroad thoughfare into a safe passage for residents and commuters of Toowoomba alike. Make West Street safe again! I encourage everyone, especially our fellow Toowoomba residents, to sign this petition to endorse and expedite the essential safety upgrades to West Street. our goal is to make west st safer and reduce crashes. its seeing more often from how poorly designed it is currently.
