Upgrade Dangerous Cleveland Shore St W Roundabout

Upgrade Dangerous Cleveland Shore St W Roundabout
The issue
Hi there,
My name is Louise & I have been a resident of Cleveland over the past few years, also working in the heart of Cleveland for over 6 months, RIGHT next to the Roundabout of Death.
It has been no secret, that there is a recurring narrative of the "Cleveland Roundabout" at Shore Street W/Wellington Street. Everyone knows about it - and the same 3 sentences are spoken.. "I avoid the roundabout", "Donut of Death" and "The most dangerous roundabout in our area". This enough - should be a reason to look into upgrading the roundabout to a set of traffic lights.
You do not have to look very far to see news articles of this being at front & centre story for upgrading, etc since 2008 - that is FIFTEEN years of this roundabout being an issue.
You only need to be a member of Cleveland community Facebook pages to see the constant issues & commentary around this roundabout.
I myself - have attended to FOUR accidents in a space of SEVEN DAYS. One of them I had to extricate the young teenage driver as their door was completely smashed in from being T-boned.
I have dashcam footage of myself coming down from Alex Hills through to the round about & then predicting that I'll be cut off - lo & behold I have a few 'episodes' of videos of this happening.
It is a complete wonder that there have not yet been fatalities - however it is only time before we read of one occurring - because at this stage it seems that the government will not provide funding to upgrade the roundabout before someone has to pay with their life.
They only have to set up a temporary camera over a period of a week to count and see the near misses and often accidents that occur.
They are building new fast food outlets on the corner, businesses (like the one I work at) are suffering with the constant risk of accidents - and even 2 months ago we had a car crashed into our bollards on our property. Not to even mention the HIGHLY controversial upgrade to Toondah Harbour which will sky rocket the traffic beyond what it is now.
SOMEONE. IS. GOING. TO. DIE.
There is enough 'talk' about it happening - this is an impassionate plea from the constituents, residents & tax payers - to seriously start considering upgrading this before someone loses their life. Our insurance premiums are also no doubt being affected!
There is at LEAST one accident PER DAY, whether it be minor or more serious.
As someone who works at this roundabout, I am constantly fearful of crossing the road to get some food or coffee - often dicing with a reprieve in traffic just to get across, nearly being missed with excessive acceleration from cars exiting the roundabout.
Please - Mark Robinson, listen to the residents of this area - people are ACTIVELY avoiding the roundabout out of fear of their own safety. For the people that see the roundabout all day, everyday and hearing the constant horns - it becomes traumatising.
Please install traffic lights to allow traffic to flow safely and effectively. Especially with the plans of upgrading the area, we need ACTION YESTERDAY.
