As passionate committee members of the Moe Amateur Swimming Club and committed advocates for the benefits of swimming to the whole community, we believe it is time to upgrade the facilities at the Moe Outdoor Pool.

The Moe Outdoor Pool is a beautiful venue where our local community can enjoy a recreational swim, train for competition or swim with friends and family. However, the lack of heating at the pool limits the community’s usage to 30th November - 10th March, and only on days when the temperature is above 25 degrees.

Recently we have seen considerable investment in Warragul, Traralgon, and Sale aquatic venues, however the Moe Outdoor Pool seems to continue to fly under the radar.

We propose that the Moe Outdoor Pool be upgraded with heating facilities. Heating the pool will remove the constraints on opening times due to weather.  The community of Moe will have an outdoor aquatic venue with a comfortable temperature throughout the year.

The upgraded facility will extend the usability of the facility for the enthusiastic swimmers, young and old, who are keen on using the pool for fitness. It will also support the facilitation of activities such as school swimming events and competitive race meets throughout the year.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Moe’s population has risen by 1.4% in recent years. Coupled with the increased focus on health and wellness and the imperative to improve swimming ability as an important life skill, heated pools can become an essential community resource catering to this growth.
