I am writing this petition as a passionate reader who deeply values the importance of a good library. Many of us share a love for reading and recognize the power of books to inspire, educate, and enrich our lives. However, upon recent visits to our local library, I've noticed a disturbing lack of diversity in book genres and inadequate cleaning standards. Our library should be a sanctuary for readers of all interests and preferences, providing a clean, comfortable environment where their reading desires can be fully satisfied.

According to a recent survey by The Pew Research Center, 76% of American adults read a book in any format last year, and the typical American has read 4 books in the past 12 months. The same survey revealed that 27% would like to see their library offer a broader selection of books (Pew Research Center, 2016). These numbers alone show that significant change is needed in our local library to cater to the diverse reading tastes of our community.

The current state of cleanliness in our library is another crucial issue that needs addressing. Proper cleanliness not only encourages more usage of our library but is also vital for the health and wellbeing of its patrons.

This petition is not only personal to me, but it also mirrors the sentiments of many local readers. Therefore, I urge you to support this petition for the amendment of our library.
