Update the redevelopment plan for 910 Monaghan Road

Update the redevelopment plan for 910 Monaghan Road
The Issue
Living in the Peterborough area as a local business manager and a parent, I'm deeply invested in the community's development. At the heart of my concerns is the Healthy Planet Arena, a venue that plays a pivotal role for many families, including mine, as a hub for sports events and community gatherings. Each year, my business hosts the PTBO Home, Garden & Cottage Show here, and like many others, I've experienced firsthand the parking chaos during such events.
The current redevelopment plan for the former Canoe Museum site at 910 Monaghan Road/575 Romain Street offers a unique opportunity to alleviate this issue by incorporating much-needed overflow parking. This site is perfectly positioned to cater to the demands of our thriving community, especially during busy periods when sports and Events in the Multipurpose room happen at the same time, as well as during tournaments or other events at the site.
The Peterborough community deserves a thoughtful approach to urban planning that anticipates and addresses the practical needs of its residents and businesses. By updating the site plan to include overflow parking, we can ensure a seamless experience for all who visit Healthy Planet Arena, whether they're attending a sports tournament, a community event, or one of our signature shows.
Moreover, enhancing parking facilities would not only support local events but also bolster the local economy by encouraging greater participation and reducing the hassle for visitors. Let's make this small but impactful change to support our community's growth and vibrancy.
I urge the city planners and stakeholders involved in the redevelopment to listen to the voices of affected residents, families, and business owners. An updated site plan with designated overflow parking at the 910 Monaghan Road location will serve our community's needs effectively.
Please add your signature to this petition to voice your support and help us achieve a practical solution that enhances access and convenience for everyone in Peterborough. Together, we can make a change that benefits us all.
