As a student of B.Sc. Zoology Honors in Delhi University, I am critically aware of how indispensable our syllabus is in shaping our knowledge base and furthering our academic and professional endeavors. Unfortunately, my college, following a curriculum prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC), teaches an antiquated syllabus. We're studying outdated subject matter, such as the unit on the "Diversity of Chordates," where the inclusion of Hemichordates in Chordates contradicts updated scientific understanding. This is just one instance; there are numerous other areas where outdated information continues to exist within our prescribed course material.

Outdated information not only stunts our intellectual growth but also hinders our ability to forge ahead in the exciting field of Zoology. The world of science is continually evolving; to keep students locked in bygone paradigms is detrimental to our learning process and our ability to contribute to science in the future.

It is time we address this issue and demand an update of the syllabus. An updated syllabus will ensure that we are abreast of developments in the scientific world and are preparing ourselves effectively for our future. Let us encourage the authorities to revise the syllabus and bring it in line with current scientific knowledge.
