The Issue

As a long time fan of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) and Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL) I am appalled by the butchering of this tier 1/2 split. What should be a move to help increase the level of play in the province in the wake of the BCHL's departure from Hockey Canada has left many fans, players, and organizations frustrated with the process.

This petition calls for the KIJHL, the PJHL, Hockey Canada, BC Hockey and BlackFin Sports group to do the following:

1) Update the teams in each half of the split, as it has been over a year since the last satisfactory update and been two months since the previously promised date. This includes all expansion teams, including those formerly of the BCHL

2) Provide information on how the teams were selected for Tier 1 or Tier 2, including but not necessarily limited to: what categories teams were evaluated on, what each team scored in each category, when the assessments took place, and how much each team paid for the assessment

3) Provide an update pathway for player advancement to higher levels particularly the Western Hockey League (WHL) but also to universities in both Canada and the USA

4) Provide an update on the future of sanctioned Jr. A hockey in the province, including a possible merger between the two tier 1 leagues and a timeline for British Columbia teams returning to the National Junior A championship the Centennial Cup.

This petition is on behalf of every fan, player, parent, coach, general manager, and volunteer who loves hockey and wants to either play it and/or enjoy it without the constant power struggle in the background
