Update Google Scholar's Cite Button to Comply with APA 7 Standards

Update Google Scholar's Cite Button to Comply with APA 7 Standards
The Issue
I, like millions of other researchers and students worldwide, frequently use Google Scholar and its citation tool. The current system, however, is not compliant with the latest edition of the APA Publication Manual (APA 7), which was released in October 2019. This non-compliance forces us to manually adjust items such as capitalization in article and journal titles, number of authors listed, and more throughout our References pages to adhere to APA 7 standards - a time-consuming process that could be easily avoided.
The American Psychological Association (APA) updates their publication manual periodically to ensure clarity of communication in scientific writing. These changes are important for maintaining consistency and accuracy across all scholarly works. It has been over five years since the release of APA 7, yet Google Scholar's citation tool remains outdated.
Google Scholar is a widely used resource for academic research globally. Its failure to update its cite button not only hampers efficiency but also impacts the quality of academic work produced by countless researchers and students who rely on this tool daily.
We urge Google Scholar to prioritize this necessary update as soon as possible. By doing so, they will significantly improve the user experience for millions around the world while ensuring adherence to globally accepted academic standards.
Please sign this petition if you believe in improving efficiency in scholarly research by updating Google Scholar's cite button according to APA 7 guidelines.
