The city has announced a new update on the Willow Flats development.  They are saying it would be light residential devlopment and not the whole area.   They have only given a few days for public opinion to be considered.   Please, re-sign this new ammended petition to again let the city know WE DON'T WANT WILLOW FLATS DEVELOPED.

The beautiful wetlands of Willow Flats have been a sanctuary for me and countless others in Yellowknife, NT, offering a tranquil escape and a vibrant ecosystem. The idea of it being damaged by housing development is not just heartbreaking—it is a call to action. These wetlands are a critical part of our community's identity, cherished not only for their natural beauty but also for their role in sustaining biodiversity. 

Allowing development in Willow Flats would disrupt the delicate balance of this ecosystem, threatening the species that rely on it and potentially leading to irreversible environmental damage. The impact on the wildlife, water resources, and recreational areas would reduce the quality of life in our city.

The city government should explore alternative locations for residential development that do not compromise our natural habitats. There are multiple undeveloped areas that can be considered for housing projects without sacrificing our wetlands. Implementing sustainable urban planning practices is essential to preserve the natural beauty that defines Yellowknife.

Now more than ever, we need to protect Willow Flats to ensure future generations can enjoy this precious natural resource. Sign this petition to tell our city leaders that protecting Willow Flats from development is a priority for the residents of Yellowknife.
