Update Cheyenne's Flag

Update Cheyenne's Flag
The Issue
Cheyenne’s current flag already has a strong foundation, but it relies heavily on a detailed city seal that does not translate well at a distance or in everyday civic use. This proposed update preserves the flag’s existing colors, proportions, and overall identity while simplifying its central imagery into a bold, recognizable symbol. By replacing the seal with a clean bison silhouette, the design highlights one of Cheyenne’s most enduring regional symbols—representing the High Plains, Wyoming’s frontier heritage, and the city’s historical role as a gateway to the American West. The updated flag remains unmistakably Cheyenne while becoming easier to reproduce, easier to recognize, and more effective as a true civic flag—one that residents can proudly fly, wear, and rally around without losing the history embedded in the original design.
