Problem
Right before FINAL EXAMS, UNLV parking consistently closes the vast majority of parking spaces (all the good spots) in the major parking lots (White/Black lots) to appease the NFR rodeo show and other events. UNLV parking fails to properly warn students of the parking limitations, traffic, and closed roads they impose on students who are already stressed about finals. This is an extra mental toll on students which can cause many people to become late or even miss important exams and announcements due to the unforeseen parking issues they were NOT warned about. Apart from being late, this can lead to a loss of concentration during exams (due to rushing to class). It is disrespectful, inconsiderate, and dismissive to the students who make this university profitable.

Solution
Several solutions that may work to fix this issue include:
- Warn students before hand via email (not in the what's happening now newsletter, no one reads that) about the delays and closing of student parking spots
- Present students with a virtual map of which parts of the parking lot will be closed and for how long
-Provide students with information of alternate routes to entrances and exits in order to prevent students from hitting the randomly closed roads
- Shuttle students in carts who are forced to park in far areas in order to ensure safety, allow students to save time, and stress
- Grant students a partial refund on their parking permits or lower the prices of parking permits due to the consistent inconveniences every year

Personal story
I am starting this petition because parking the past 4 years at this university has been a disaster due to the inconsiderate parking closures that students are consistently surprised by. Us students deserve a solution and deserve to be heard. I am sure we are all sick of the issue we have to deal with every semester.

As a student who is essentially forced into buying a parking permit every year in order to ensure safety for myself due to the bad surrounding area, we as students deserve much better than this. This is not a one time situation either. This has been a rumination of built up stress and frustration from myself and other students who have finally had enough of this inconvenience. If UNLV is truly student oriented, then I believe the board will take this matter into consideration and resolve the issue come next semester, Spring 2019.
