Dear Signers,
Again, thank you for your support. We will be delivering all the petitions on Change.org, including mine, demanding a hybrid mode of education to the university vice-chancellor and other higher-ups today. So keep signing and keep sharing the petition. Also, there will be a live Twitter chat on this subject at 4 pm today. Here's the link --

A section of students, who're supporting the resumption of offline classes at DU are calling our motives "political". But we are not against the resumption of offline classes. We're merely asking for the university administration to keep the different needs of all students in mind and initiate a hybrid mode of education for final year students. The people who protested at the University Campus, including student political groups such as ABVP and NSUI, represent a minority of the university's students. In most campus colleges, outstation students make up 60%-70% of their total student strength. But obviously, our voices weren't heard because we weren't physically present at the Campus. Those who protested managed to put enough pressure on the DU administration. Even DU's registrar admitted to being pressured by students into taking this decision. Here's what he said in a recent Indian Express report.
“The demand to resume offline classes came from students and there was so much pressure put on the administration last week… In DU, we don’t think a hybrid system is possible. That has many implications of its own. Different students joining through different modes will bring more disputes and it will also be too much for teachers to handle".
So after giving in to the protests held by a minority of students, the DU registrar says they won't be able to accommodate the needs of the majority!
