Petition updateDelhi University: Students should be able to continue online classes #DUOnlineDU should follow UGC advice, Jamia model, embrace hybrid

Dear Signers,

The University Grants Commission, in a recent letter, suggested that universities that are planning to reopen could look at the hybrid mode of learning to accommodate the needs of all students. Jamia Millia Islamia may reopen soon too, but in a phased manner, with only departments that strictly require the physical presence of students for laboratory classes and PhD research, resuming offline classes first.

So why is DU reopening so hurriedly, at once for all students?

Most DU college hostels won’t be ready to admit students for another month at least owing to repair work. This will cause a lot of stress on the limited PGs and flats available for rent around the campus.

Finally, several students, who were under the impression that offline classes won’t resume this semester, have joined coaching classes for competitive examinations or started internships in their respective locations. The resumption of offline classes, with the exams only two months ahead, would cause a needless hindrance to the professional ambitions of many students.

I appeal to all signers to continue amplifying this petition and take our demand of a hybrid mode of learning to the DU administration. Share this link on WhatsApp/Signal/Telegram.
