The University of Wyoming is closing the Union Parking lot in December 2022 for staging to build the new dorms adjacent to the area. Once the dorms are completed, the parking lot will be destroyed and grass will be added in its place. This will cause the University to lose a large amount of parking and create equity issues with the prices of new parking passes on campus. The green space is to turn the University of Wyoming into a walkable campus like Clemson University, even though Wyoming weather isn’t very kind roughly 9 months out of the year. This petition is to have the University of Wyoming reopen the parking lot after construction to avoid these equity issues and avoid losing a large amount of parking spaces. Staff has been upset with this issues for a few years now, but the trustees will not budge on this issue because they are only here when it’s sunny and beautiful outside. Let’s help our staff with this ongoing issue, stand up for Wyoming values, and keep Wyoming, Wyoming.
