As COVID-19 cases remain prevalent at the University of Virginia, especially during the surge of the Omicron variant, we want to make sure that every student has access to classes virtually. As the University of Virginia falls under the definition of a "congregated space," transmission in indoor and dense spaces (such as classrooms) is likely. Students should be able to make their own decisions regarding their safety and health throughout this time period. While our vaccine, booster, and mask mandates do protect us, we believe that there should be a universal policy for all professors to provide easily accessible online options. 

Our demands are: 

• Guaranteed and universally regulated remote options for students that are accessible through UVACollab or related means. 
• Transparency on classroom policies regarding excused absences and illness. 

We recognize that these demands are far from what we expect from the university, especially in regards to access to higher quality masks, quarantine guidelines, and classroom density requirements. Hopefully, we will be able to demand more in the future if these demands are met positively.
