Please Save Lou's List!
The Issue
Statement from Professor Lou Bloomfield:
"Once again, I am under severe pressure from the UVa administration to shut down Lou's List (see emails here). According to ITS, Lou's List is of declining importance and SIS is already too overloaded to accommodate my data-mining.
Since maintaining Lou's List requires a fair amount of volunteer work and it frequently gets me into trouble, I am considering shutting it down in early September. If you would like me to continue operating Lou's List, however, please let me and the UVa Administration know soon.
Lou Bloomfield"
In an institution as large as the University of Virginia, it's a rare and welcome thing to have an educational resource at one's disposal which is both extremely helpful and easy to use. Lou's List (http://rabi.phys.virginia.edu/mySIS/CS2/index.php), a free service provided and maintained voluntarily by Professor Lou Bloomfield, is an invaluable tool used by students to aid in course selection and schedule management. We understand that the existence of the site places a small strain on the University-maintained system, known as SIS; however, we firmly believe that the service provided by Lou's List is well worth the extra effort.
We respectfully request that the administration of the University of Virginia acknowledge the site's importance to the University Community by allowing Lou's List to continue its operations unhindered.
