The Turtle Pond in the University of Texas at Austin is a popular site that many students and staff members pass by everyday. Located next to the tower, everyone loves seeing the turtles while going about their day, including me. Although they have their own pond and a decent amount of space, the turtles are left exposed to the road that surrounds their home where cars pass by almost every minute. There have been numerous times where I have seen or heard about a turtle on the road, left exposed to the danger of getting run over. I propose to place a small barrier between the turtles and the road so they would be protected at all times. This is their home and they must be safe or there won't be any turtles left to see. Losing these turtles means that biology students will no longer be able to study these creatures, student and staff won't be able to enjoy passing by them everyday, and a destruction to the habitat in which they reside in. Help these turtles by signing this petition to provide a proper barrier for the turtles to safely roam around the area without the fear of the roads.
