UTA has not had a football team in roughly 30 years. In that time, the university has made great strides in medical, engineering and many other fields of research. Bringing a football team would take away from that research. It would drain money from departments and raise tuition. The university has thrived without a football team and should continue to do so. Bringing the team back would only cause the university, which prides itself on low tuition and research, to become unaffordable to students and lessen the overall learning quality many of the students come for. Some say we cannot be a bigger and better university without football. We are already bigger and better and want to continue to grow in education, not in a pointless sports program.
