Stop UT's support for Y-12 Nuclear Weapons Complex in Oak Ridge, TN

The Issue

On December 9, 2020, the Knoxville New-Sentinel reported that UT President Randy Boyd was forming a partnership with Texas A&M University and tendering a bid on a management contract for the Y-12 National Security Complex and the Pantex Plant, located in Oak Ridge, TN and near Amarillo, TX, respectively.

This bid aims to produce weapons of mass destruction declared illegal by the Treaty of Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

The University of Tennessee is already listed as a School of Mass Destruction due to existing involvement and activities supporting the production of nuclear weapons. The impending bid will elevate UT's status on this list and set an example of moral failure on behalf of President Boyd.

President Boyd must take action to extricate the University of Tennessee from any and all activities that support producing weapons of mass production, including pulling out of the bid to manage and operate the Y-12 National Security Complex and the Pantex Plant.

Sign this petition to put pressure on President Boyd to make decisions on behalf of the university that reflect our potential to better the world around us, not destroy it.
