The Belk Tower was built in 1970 as a gift from the Belk family. It holds a lot of historical meaning for UNCC students, it's literally the center of attention, and serves as a place of comfort, protest, and vigils for Charlotte students, staff, alumni. 

On October 16th, 2015 Chancellor Dubois issued a statement that due to structural issues and the "$1 million" dollar cost of restoring it, the Belk Tower will be torn down. You can view the statement by Chancellor Dubois: here: http://tinyurl.com/nrupad9

Tell Chancellor Dubois and the Board of Trustees that they are WRONG! The Belk Tower should be renovated or rebuilt, but you can't take away our HISTORY! #GONINERS
