Francis Scott Key was a slave owner and as you all know, one of the academic building’s on campus was named after him. I am proud to attend UMD because of the way it promotes inclusivity, but having this building named after a slave owner says otherwise. Please consider signing this petition to change the name to someone who deserves to be looked up to on our campus!
