During this scary and growing pandemic, we are trying our best to isolate ourselves and stay free from contact with people. However, asking to come into chemistry labs creates a risk for us to spread germs and increase the risk of contracting this virus. We have to touch many objects that various individuals have used and have a high chance of bringing those germs home. Although we wear a mask and “proper guidelines” are in place, we often have to come close to each other while passing and touch many of the same unsanitized materials. There has even been a covid case found at one of the in person chemistry labs and I believe that should have been an eye opener. The whole province is in the critical red level and I believe that attending these in person labs should be optional or in fact cancelled as many of us have family members at home who have weaker immune systems and it is our duty to keep them and ourselves safe.
